Monto Cattle and Country’s yarding was back in numbers to 300 head @ their fortnightly fat and store sale last week. Oppressive heat and some good falls of rain saw cattle held back. Markets firmed for most descriptions with cattle drawn from Harrami, Boyne Valley, Thangool and Monto districts.
Heavy bulls sold from 230c to 245c/kg. Brad and Ingrid Baldwin sold Brangus bullocks 590kgs for 269c/kg or $1467. TJ and SL Clarke “Gwalia” penned Droughtmaster bullocks 582kgs to return $1460. Peter and Kaye Wilson sold Brangus cross bullocks to return $1565 or 251c/kg.
CS and ALR Anger sold Santa cows 562kgs for 221c/kg or $1244 and Brahman cows for 218c/kg or $1130. George Augenstein Jnr sold Simmental cross cows 547kgs for $1189 or 217c/kg.
Ron Talbot sold 482kg Brangus cross steers to 271c/kg or $1308. Kevin Keiler’s 360kg Santa cross steers sold to $986 or 274c/kg. Reg and Di Kerle penned Charbray weaners 266kgs to realise 314c/kg or $837. CS and ALR Anger sold Santa Brahman cross weaner steers 224kgs to 324c/kg or $730. Dale Voss sold Brahman cross weaner steers to 328c/kg or $626.

Vernon and Angela Goody’s quality Brangus cross heifers 274kgs sold to 272c/kg or $745. Cam, Rach and Harper Zieth “Moran Downs” sold Droughtmaster Brahman cross No 7 heifers 260kgs for 267c/kg or $696. Reg Kerle’s quality Charbray weaner heifers sold to $690 or 275c/kg. G Augenstein Jnr’s Simbrah heifers sold to $767 to average 285kgs. Charlie Anger’s weaner heifers sold to 270c/kg or $633. Greg Hall’s lightweight crossbred heifers sold to 273c/kg or $475.
