Monto’s Sale held on Wednesday 26th April saw 714 head yarded which included 270 Charbray cattle entered for judging in the Charbray Infused Sale section. Prices were extremely good with a large buyer panel keen to source quality Charbray cattle. Cattle were drawn from Theodore, Cracow, Taroom, Mt Perry, Boyne Valley and Monto districts.
Prime Charbray bullocks account of Bennett Family Trust sold to 309c/kg returning $2020 and were purchased by Matt Pavey of Teys Biloela.
Barry and Carole Whitaker, Rolling Hills, Eidsvold won Champion Pen of steers for 2017 with No.6 steers at 406kg which sold to $1385 or 341c/kg. The Whitaker steers also won their class of steers 10-18 months.
Steve Pailthorpe won the class for steers 18 months and over with 416kg steers which returned $1404 or 337/kg. Harold and Pam Dwyer consigned a quality run of Charbray weaners with their weaner steers winning their class and selling for 399c/kg or 1272 and heifers selling to $808 or 324c/kg.
Bev and Roy Marbach had a good day with Champion Pen of Females overall plus heifers 10-18 months and heifers over 18 months. The older heifers sold to 318c/kg or $1215 while their lighter sisters sold to $1057.

Sale highlights continued in other breeds with Arthur Maynard selling a quality run of Santa No.6 EU heifers from 307-319c/kg to average 315c/kg or $1120. Ashenhurst Partnership consigned Droughtmaster cross No.6 steers 258kg which sold to 360c/kg or $930. Monal Grazing sold a run of Brangus and Brahmans cross weaner steers from 382-408c/kg topping at $950. GS Ogle penned Brahman cross heifers 376kg which returned $1126. Weaner heifers generally sold from 290-330c/kg.
